Spring 2008 UK Tour (Rep A)
Energy, inventiveness and bold theatrical colour define Oguike's new mixed bill for 2008.
Joined by his troupe of powerful, captivating dancers, he delivers a wide-ranging and potent combination of music and movement.
The repertoire features live music from internationally renowned saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy and three leading jazz musicians.
The evening opens with Little Red, a wild and explosive work for six women. Witchy in red velvet, they strut the stage in passionate dialogue with Vivaldi's violin concerti.
Rhythm is obsession in Green in Blue; the mood, high summer. Ballamy's playful composition, performed live on stage, possesses the dancers sending them into a flurry of charged elasticity.
By contrast, Oguike's latest creations Touching All and All Around create a more intimate setting in which he explores physicality through a sequence of beautifully crafted solos and duets.
