Miguel Santos
Visual Artist
Born in Portugal, Miguel is an interdisciplinary artist/researcher exploring interactive and participatory art, where the role of the observer is equally important to the role of the artist in the construction of the artwork. He has been studying intersecting perspectives in the Fine Arts and Cognitive Sciences and the exploration and understanding of perception and construction of meaning by the observer and employing these findings in the production of interactive installations, videos and photography. He is currently a PhD student at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. His work focuses on the creation of interfaces for the development of self-reflective experiences in the artwork exploring the art practice as the research methodology. His work has been exhibited in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto), U.K. (London, Sheffield), Holland (Host 7, Amsterdam), Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Host 6, Sheffeld pavillion project at the 52nd Venice Biennale) and Germany (Host 6, Sheffield pavillion project at the Documenta XII Kassel).
