Henri Oguike, one of the UK's most inventive choreographers, presents a stunning new triple bill and a hand-picked quartet of world-class dancers. The programme features lighting design by Yaron Abulafia and costumes by Asalia Khadjé who both recently collaborated with henri on his first work for Rambert Dance Company, Tread Softly (2009).
Freq will take you by surprise. Unusual and intense, yet inspired by an inquisitive playfulness, this work will be an exciting departure for Oguike.
Toccato bears all the hallmarks of Oguike's choreography. Sensuality, beauty and sublime movement are laced together with Bach's lyrical suites for solo cello.
Butterfly Dreaming, a full Company work draws inspiration from the far East. Crafted on Chinese philosopher-poet Chuang-Tzu's butterfly dream and set to the backdrop of Tan Dun's dramatic Ghost Opera, recorded by the Kronos Quartet.
Variety, wit and drama; astute musical choices; bold theatrical colour. This is contemporary dance at its most thrilling and enjoyable. Simply a must-see!
