So you think you can dance?
Henri Oguike was a guest contemporary choreographer for “So You Think You Can Dance” UK 2010 – a BBC talent show in search of Britain’s favourite dancer!
The programme went live on BBC 1 on Saturday 23rd January 2010!
Ballet Black
This Spring, Henri Oguike will be working with London based Ballet Black. This new commission will premiere on 23rd March 2010 in The Linbury Studio, Royal Opera House and the work will run until 27th March.
Tread Softly - Premiere of Henri's Rambert Commission
Earlier this year, Henri was commissioned by Rambert Dance Company to choreograph a work to feature in their Comedy of Change Tour this autumn and spring 2010.
Inspired by W B Yeats and John Grey and enhanced by the live sound of a string quartet, Tread Softly uses light and Schubert's Death and the Maiden to take us from one illusion into another. What is real and what is imagined?
The world premiere of Tread Softly took place at the Wycombe Swan, High Wycombe on 7 October 2009; the London premiere was at Sadler's Wells on 3 November 2009. Forthcoming dates for this piece in 2010 are as follows: 3rd - 6th February, Theatre Royal, Brighton; 21st-23rd April, Theatre Royal, Newcastle; and 28th-30th April Lyceum, Sheffield.
Oguike Embarks on Intensive Research and Development Period
The last ten years have seen Henri work at a frenetic pace, so over the next 18 months HODC will be devoting time to research and development as well as to some prestigious commissions, including one from Rambert Dance Company and Ballet Black as well as a spot on BBC1's new dance programme "So you think you can dance"
Henri has longed for time to explore new collaborations and to look at areas such as design, sport, fashion and technology, and to working with music in new ways. It will no doubt feed into the new repertoire which will tour in Autumn 2010/Spring 2011 so do watch this space – the best is yet to come!
